Trekking through a white wonderland on snowshoes is what winter in Maine is all about. Here in the Maine's Northwestern Mountains region, there are plenty of places to get out and explore.
Maine Huts & Trails has an 80-mile system of trails, including many scenic jaunts that wind through the forest. They also offer guided snowshoe treks throughout the winter for those who’d prefer the safety and comfort of a Registered Maine Guide.
The Sugarloaf Outdoor Center offers snowshoe rentals that can be taken off-site to use anywhere in the area. Their own trail system is great for snowshoeing, and more adventurous folks can even access the Appalachian Trail or the Bigelow Mountain Preserve.
